South Shore

Welcome to the South Shore of Maui

This luxurious world-class section of Maui is one of the island’s sunniest locations.

Sunny and dry, the South Shore of Maui is filled with miles of sandy beaches and spectacular views. World-class golf courses, fine-dining restaurants, and the island’s most popular resorts are also found here.

Consisting of the towns of Kihei, Wailea, and Makena, the South Shore is home to some of Maui’s most recognized attractions; tourists and locals alike flock here to swim, snorkel, and surf. Whale watching is also a big attraction here, as is high-end shopping.

The homes here are diverse, ranging from modest residences to multi-million dollar beachfront estates. But the one word that is synonymous with South Maui real estate is luxury. High-end condo complexes and gated communities abound here, making the area one of the most desirable sections of the island.

Dining, Shopping & Entertainment

Locals and tourists flock to the Shops at Wailea, a mall with more than 70 shops, restaurants, and art galleries. And dining options are many:  at Nick’s, you’ll find a seafood-driven menu and lush garden setting; Ferraro’s Bar Ristorante is an oceanside, open-air eatery with Italian fare; and Spago, Wolfgang Puck's glam eatery in the Four Seasons Hotel, offers Californian-fusion and vista views.

Things to Do

Golf dominates the South Shore—popular sites include the Wailea Golf Club’s Blue, Gold, and Emerald Courses, and the Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve is the place to go for snorkeling. Tourists also enjoy La Perouse Bay and the Molokini Crater.

For cinephiles who love to see the newest movies, the Maui Film Festival is hosted each June.
